Be honest. Do you shudder at the thought of reading a “buggy and bonnet” book? Or assume that the readers of Amish fiction are sweet little grannies in nursing homes? 

Here’s a few things that might surprise you: Amish fiction has become an industry leader for the Christian publishing market, with no signs of waning. During the recession, while large bookstore chains were shutting their doors and publishing houses were scaling back, agents and editors continued to seek Amish fiction. Nearly every Christian publisher is racing to the market with an author or two who writes Amish fiction. This sub-genre is continuing to grow. And grow and grow. 

But let’s get back to you. Why should you give a book of Amish fiction a try? What’s the fuss all about? After all, there must be some reasons Amish fiction is so popular.
